4th Annual EU Interactive Symposium - held in Hungary

The European Symposium on Extra-Osseous Subtalar Joint Stabilization was held in Budapest, Hungary on May 19, 2018. This is the 4th Annual EU interactive symposium that was sponsored by Graham Implant Institute. In attendance were 16 orthopedic and podiatric surgeons. The orthopedic surgeons were representing countries from eastern European, i.e.: Slvoakia, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, and Hungary.

Podiatric surgeons from Canada (Robert Chelin DPM) and the U.S. (Michael Graham, DPM) providing lectures and case presentations. All the lectures and case presentations focused on the correction of subtalar joint instability using the only sinus tarsi implant currently available in Eastern Europe as well as other viable surgical options.

Leading Podiatric and Orthopedics Surgeons gather in Milan, Italy

On April 21-22 an international summit of leading podiatriatric and orthopaedic surgeons gathered in Milan, Italy for a two day meeting. Podiatric and Orthpedic surgeons from Argentina, Canada, Poland, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom and USA were in attendance.The goal of this meeting was to establish a outcome-based study for those patients that have undergone extra-osseous talo-tarsal stabilization (EOTTS). We hope to have this phase of the project completed by early fall. We also reviewed the latest research and outcomes in EOTTS. 

Robert Chelin, DPM receives fellowship from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons

On October 27, 2016 Robert Chelin was conferred a fellowship at the University of Glasgow at a elaborate ceremony from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. National and International Doctors, Dentists, Surgeons, Podiatrists and Travel Medicine practitioners partook in the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by over 500 attendees in the prestigious "Butte Hall", a very historic building at the university. After the induction ceremony a special dinner was held at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow honoring all the inductees. This historic building has seen the likes of Dr Joseph Lister the father of "antisepsis" and Dr David Livingstone.

Robert Chelin, DPM receives Lifetime Achievement Award

On May 26th 2016, Robert Chelin, DPM received the FIP Lifetime Achievement Award from the FIP before the 850 plus attendees of the 2016 World Congress of Podiatry at its opening ceremony festivities. This award is the highest honor that can bestow upon a practitioner who has provided the ultimate service to his profession in a global capacity.

Chelin served as President of the FIP from 2007-2010, then its Chief Executive Officer from 2012-2014, and Chief Executive Officer of the 2016 World Congress of Podiatry from 2014-2016 culminating his 15-year service to the organization. These accomplishments have positioned him as the highest decorated Canadian podiatrist in FIP's history.

Canadian Podiatrists volunteer for 60km Walk for Breast Cancer

Canadian podiatrists participated in a 2-day event on September 6th and September 7th in Toronto. Health services were provided at this event by the medical team that included several podiatrists. Over 3,000 walkers participated in this 2-day event which covered 60 km (40 miles) and raised $7,000,000 dollar for breast cancer research.

Robert Chelin, DPM receives Distinguished Service Award from Federation of Podiatrists

Robert Chelin DPM was presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the International Federation of Podiatrists/Federation Internationale des Podologues (FIP) on October 16, 2013 at its most recent meeting in Rome, Italy . He is a past president of both the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) and the FIP.

Robert Chelin DPM - CEO & Past President of the International Federation of Podiatrists meets in Troy, Michigan on April 21, 2013 with Dr Michael Graham - CEO and Principal of Gramedica and Dr Jian Dhong Dhang - Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon from Beijing, China to discuss future orthopedic and podiatric collaborations as well as current trends and techniques in foot and ankle surgery. Dr Dhang also expressed interest for the  opportunity of having students from China going to the USA to go to podiatric medical school.

Robert Chelin, DPM goes to Washington to attend the Installation of the new APMA President

Key podiatry leaders meet in Washington D.C. to celebrate the inauguration of the new president of the American Podiatric Medical Association at their House of Delegates meeting. On March 17, Dr Matt Garafoulis was installed as the President of the APMA. Robert attended the meeting as a FIP, Past President and current CEO. Also in attendance was Neil Simonette from the UK current Chairman of the FIP European Council of Podiatrists, Alison Wishart current Chairman of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists of the UK, Dr Joseph Stern, president of the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association and Dr Joesph Caporusso, president of the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP). "We were all there to celebrate and support our colleague on his special day" says Chelin.
